About the artist...

Kathy
Este Savoie,
a professional artist, born in New Orleans, Louisiana and raised on the Westbank of Jefferson Parish, has been painting with the medium of oil for over 25 years. Although the majority of her artwork is taken from the New Orleans landscapes and sold locally, she has artwork throughout the United States and England. She was a member of the Delta Woodcarvers and Artist Guild and the Westbank Art Guild. She has won numerous awards for her artwork including “1988 Artist of the Year” from the Delta Woodcarvers and Artists Guild. One of her original paintings,”Working on a Foggy Morning”, was selected by Jefferson Parish to be displayed in the Gretna Courthouse along with many other local artists. A photo of this painting is shown here for your viewing.
Kathy taught and shared her talents with many students over 20 years in her studio on the Westbank. Though, today she primarily does commissioned artwork, Kathy enjoys painting on 100 year old slates. These slates were once the roof of either a church, log cabin or school. They have their own unique shape, nail holes and coloring. Along with owning an original piece of artwork, you can own a piece of New Orleans history.
